: GREETINGS,I was most happy when I discovered
the Tooker web page yesterday. I believe that I
am also a descendant of Captain John Tooker. I
feel that I belong to #10 Jacob the son of Jacob
and Hanna Lines. However, from what I understand
Captain John Tooker of Brookhaven, and Southold,
Suffolk Co., Long Island and John Tucker born
1599 at Hingham, England the son of George and
Elizabeth (Stoughton) Tucker are not the same
person.John Tooker¹s will made 24 Apr 1688,
memorand 29 May 1690 at Southold, Suffolk Co.,
Province of New York as found in William S.
Pelletreau¹s ³Early Long Island Wills of Suffolk
County, 1691- 1703,² p. 36. The will lists his
son Charles Tooker, who according to Edwin
Hatfield¹s ³History of Elizabeth, New Jersey,
Including the History of Union County,² ³Charles
Tucker (Tooker) was a New Englander, coming hither
, with the East Enders of Long Island. His
parentage has not been determined. He was,
probably, the son (or may have been the brother)
of John Tooker of Southold, (Long Island)
residing as early as 1655, in that part of the
town that was called Riverhead, originally from
the vicinity of Boston, Mass., and made a freeman
at Southold, Oct 9, 1662. According to Ephraim
Tucker in ³Genealogy of the Tucker Family from
Various Authentic Sources² p. 296 John Tucker of
Watertown and Hingham died 5 Aug 1662; his will
recorded 6 Nov 1662 does not mention Charles.
I am so happy that you have established a web
page for our Tucker family, and I hope to
contribute when I can confirm my my side of the
family. Also Charles Tooker II. #6 (1660)
married Anna Wessels daughter of Wornar Wessels
of New York as per Records of the Reformed Dutch
Church in New York: 9Feb 1670 Anna dau. of
Chales and Anna (Wessles) Tooker,18 Oct 1700
Maria dau. of Chales and Anna (Wessles) Tooker,
9 Dec 1702 Wornar son of Chales and Anna
(Wessles) Tooker Keep in touch. Sincerely ttuck

There is a well documented Genealogy of Tooker/
Tucker (back to Captain John) by Franklin Tucker.
He should be able to provide you a copy for a
nominal fee(for expenses). I think he has them
made from his disks at some place like Kinkos.
